Rebuilding Connections Through Historic Preservation
By Norman K. Styer | July 27, 2026
The National Trust for Historic Preservation capped off its Justice for All series on Saturday at Oatlands, where descendants of the plantation’s enslaved families gathered with scholars, musicians, preservationists, and community members to focus on a more complete telling of America’s history.
The program is part of the Trust’s broader All People Are Created Equal America 250 initiative that highlights how historic places and people across the nation continue to shape the nation’s journey to become a more perfect union.
