Photography Information

Oatlands is a self-supporting historic site. To assist in the upkeep of the gardens and grounds, a reasonable fee that contributes to sustaining the property is charged for professional photography.

Scheduling

Email tdrash@savingplaces.org or call 703-727-0670 to schedule a session. Oatlands reserves the right to refuse walk-ins if they conflict with scheduled events.

Arrival

• Photographers and their clients must park in the main lot beside the Carriage House and must check in at the Visitor Center in the Carriage House prior to their photo shoot.
• Monday through Thursday all sessions must be completed by 5 p.m.  Friday through Sunday all sessions must be completed by 7 p.m. 
• Contact tdrash@savingplaces.org to pay an additional fee to stay beyond normal hours.

Grounds & Property Rules

1. Photo sessions may take place in the gardens and on the grounds. Building interiors are not included.
2. Trees on the property are historic; please do not climb them.
3. Do not step in flower beds or disturb plantings.
4. Oatlands is a public, family-friendly venue. Nudity or revealing costumes are prohibited.
5. If the gardens or grounds are littered, the photographer may be charged a clean-up fee. 
6. Smoking is not permitted.
7. Fire/flame is not allowed in its various forms: no fireworks, sparklers, or candles.
8. Dogs on leashes are permitted on the property but not inside the formal walled garden.

Failure to comply with the above will result in termination of the session without refund.
