Claiming Freedom: Loudoun County during the Revolutionary War Years

How did the upheaval of the Revolutionary War era affect the lives of enslaved and free Black people in Loudoun County? How did some enslaved men and women take advantage of newfound opportunities to define liberty? Drawing from scholarly works and archival research, Dr. Sheri Huerta will discuss the ways that enslaved and free Black people claimed rights and freedoms during a time of political upheaval and social change.
