Accessibility

Oatlands strives to provide the best possible accessibility to the historic house, grounds, and facilities to meet our visitors’ diverse abilities and needs. Spending time at Oatlands, however, involves a fair amount of standing and walking—including a ¼-mile round-trip walk with an incline and uneven ground from the Carriage House Visitor Center to the Mansion. Our gardens are tiered and include steps that may be difficult to traverse.

Oatlands is for everyone. We are committed to making this historic site welcoming, inclusive, and accessible to all visitors—but this is a work in progress. We continuously seek ways to improve access while preserving the integrity of this nationally significant landscape.

For questions about accessibility or to discuss specific needs before your visit, please contact us at 703-727-0670.

Amenities

Oatlands provides picnic tables near the boxwoods close to the Carriage House & Gift Shop. Roam the grounds for free or purchase a ticket to explore the enchanting historic walled garden.

The Carriage House contains accessible restrooms, information, and ticket sales. The Carriage House gift shop carries gifts, snacks, and drinks.

Extend your experience at Oatlands by staying on-site at the Retreat. Oatlands also offers several options for event rentals for corporate meetings to family gatherings.

Additional dining, shopping, and lodging options are available in nearby Leesburg. Oatlands is also in close proximity to many of Loudoun County’s excellent wineries.
