Tea & History

Join us for a historical discussion on the Founding of Oatlands and enjoy cup of tea while you listen to an engaging speaker, Robert Ray.

On Sunday, April 23rd at 1pm we will have a presentation free to members and $10 for guests.

Who was George Carter and how did he end up building Oatlands? Oatlands’ historian and archivist Robert Ray will speak on the 500 years of history, tragedy, intrigue, and scandalous stories that led up to George Carter arriving in Loudoun County. Illustrated with letters and documents from the Oatlands archive, the many facets of George Carter will be explored from his wealthy upbringing to his Baptist education to his life as a plantation owner and enslaver.
