
Dr. Robert M. Allen was raised in Northern Virginia. After high school, he graduated from the University of Richmond.
He pursued his interest in medicine and eye care at the prestigious Pennsylvania College of Optometry, earning a Bachelor of Science and Doctoral degrees. Upon graduation, he returned to Northern Virginia and began his career in private practice with the purchase of a small office in Chantilly. That was followed a year later when he started Ashburn Eyecare Associates, one of the largest practices in Loudoun County. Not long afterward he became a founding partner of Associates in Eyecare.
In recognition of Dr. Allen’s early efforts, he was named the Virginia Optometric Association’s Young Optometrist of the Year in 2000. He has served as a clinical investigator for FDA phase III drug trials and has also served as a clinical evaluator for new contact lens designs. Currently, Dr. Allen lectures on clinical topics at continuing education conferences. As an acknowledgment of his academic and leadership achievements, he was named a fellow in the Virginia Academy of Optometry.
